Our Philosophy
Our family is the driving factor behind our business. Scrapbooking preserves memories and allows them to be displayed in a unique and beautiful fashion. Our business allows us to share our passion for crafting. Our Mission
To provide a comfortable atmosphere where our guests can socialize and relax in a home environment, while at the same time, work on their hobby and preserve their family memories.Who are We?
The Hobby House Retreat was formed by long time scrapbooking buddies Aimee Snelbaker and Susan Navarro. We both love to scrapbook and enjoy introducing friends to the world of scrapbooking. We both have 2 children which our scrapbooks are dedicated to. We have created an environment that is welcoming, comfortable, creative and fun.We are just 2 ordinary girls with a dream we made a reality. It wasn’t easy and we hit a lot of roadblocks, but we kept our faith in what we were doing and forged ahead. Aimee runs the daily operations of the place, while Susan does what she can from Texas. Aimee has the creative ideas and planning skills, while Susan has the business and computer skills. It’s a perfect match and we complement each other for the perfect partnership. It all started when we went to a scrapbooking weekend retreat together in November of 2009. Aimee presented her grand idea to Susan and we looked at a house Aimee had scoped out as the perfect location. The deal fell through on that house and Susan found another option searching the web from Texas. Aimee was disappointed and didn’t think this new option could possibly match up to her perfect find. Reluctantly, she went to see the house on Locust Grove and immediately fell in love. The house and location was perfect! Susan flew in from Texas and the deal was sealed on January 29, 2010. During a very short period with endless hours of work, the property was transformed into the ‘New world of crafting’. HHR opened on March 6, 2010 with the support and assistance of friends and family. We want to especially thank Aimee’s husband Curt for putting up with our crazy ideas and seeing every one of them through! He has constantly been improving the facility since then to make things more comfortable. He expanded each bedroom by removing un-needed closet space so all the beds could be un-bunked. He is currently working on finishing a storage room where a guest can rent space to store their crafting supplies for a monthly fee, which would include open craft time. He will also add an extra first floor bedroom to accommodate handicap guests or extras such as vendors attending a weekend event. We are proud to be a women owned business, but couldn’t have done it without him on our small budget.
